Are You Pregnant? Go for Baby CPR Classes!

If you are pregnant, it is a great experience, but it is daunting at the same time. There’s a lot to prepare.

As a mother, you are the major caretaker of your child and one of the most important things to do for your child is to go for CPR certification classes.

CPR for pregnancy

CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is a condition where you manually circulate the victim’s blood in the body when the heart stops functioning.

With frequent chest compressions and rescue breaths, you perform the role of the heart. Because your baby is so small, CPR for baby is completely different from that given to adults.

Why should you go for baby CPR training?

Cardiac arrest in babies isn’t common, but it does occur. Some of the stances where the baby might be at risk are:

Choking: It is the most common accidental death cause for kids below 5 years of age. Choking cuts the air supply which may cause cardiac arrest.

Drowning: It is another threat to babies as 1 in 5 victims are below the age of 15. Babies are highly at risk of drowning.

Heart problems: Often babies are born with congenital heart problems, irregular heartbeat, the problem in the electrical functioning of the heart, which can be a cause of cardiac arrest in the future.

Thus, as a mother you have knowledge of CPR for your baby, in case any emergency occurs.

Chest problems: Babies are delicate and any hurt or injury in the chest may possibly lead to cardiac arrest in infants.

Respiratory issues: Trouble in breathing is a major cause of cardiac arrest. It may also be seen in infants who are drowning or choking.

Any particular medication or poison: If your baby has put things in your mouth, which they shouldn’t, it may lead to cardiac arrest.

Without any reason: Cardiac arrest may some occur in healthy babies too. Around 10 to 15% of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) occurs by cardiac arrest.

Thus, with the right CPR training or CPR Certification Classes, you will be aware of the symptoms of cardiac arrest and how to prevent it.
